I’ve set a date, at long last, for my first ever wild camping micro-adventure. Sometime over the weekend of 5th May I’ll sleep the night under the almost-full moon beside a certain river in Suffolk.
Here are are couple of photos taken quite near to the ever-so-top-secret location (images ‘borrowed’ form the web, apologies in advance to any irate photographers, I will remove if asked).

I have all the kit I need now (basha, wood burning stove, sleeping mat, sleeping bag, other stuff…) and will buy essential kit on the way (i.e. a bottle of Rioja).
Roll on the wild camp, I can’t wait!
Perfect river for a compulsory early morning swim…
Good luck!
ah yes, the morning swim, almost forgot about that, I’ll pack a towel then : )
What’s a basha? I could google it I suppose….
Here you are, Lucy: http://bit.ly/JjL3Pf
😉
It’s a very basic tent, not much more than a piece of tarpaulin tied from one tree (or pole) to another. This is the one I have:

Better to buy the Rioja before you set out. That way you can decant it into a plastic bottle, saving weight and letting it breathe at the same time!
Ah yes Steve, that is a good thinking, thanks!
Hope the weather is/was kind to you this weekend. Looking forward to seeing you report back on your micro-adventure.
