{"id":5601,"date":"2016-08-12T13:38:40","date_gmt":"2016-08-12T13:38:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/martinblack.com\/?p=5601"},"modified":"2017-02-22T16:45:16","modified_gmt":"2017-02-22T16:45:16","slug":"ukraine-notes-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/martinblack.com\/oldsite\/2016\/08\/ukraine-notes-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Ukraine Notes 1 &#8211;  Football, music, books"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Interesting places<\/h2>\n<p>An article from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/lovelylife.in.ua\/zhyttya\/mandrivky\/7-kazkovyh-mists-v-ukrayini-pro-yaki-vy-ne-znaly.html\" target=\"_blank\">lovelylife.in.ua<\/a>\u00a0listed &#8216;<strong>7 Dreamlike Places<\/strong>&#8216; to visit in Ukraine, I particularly liked the\u00a0<strong>Maniava waterfall,<\/strong> located in the Carpathian mountains in the\u00a0Ivano-Frankivsk region (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/maps\/place\/Manyava,+Ivano-Frankivska,+Ukraine,+77772\/@48.6541686,24.3000392,12z\/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x47374a6f4a8b8dd7:0x7e34d9064d458cbe!8m2!3d48.6490636!4d24.3699934\" target=\"_blank\">Google map<\/a>)<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5610\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5610\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-5610 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/martinblack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/unnamed-file.jpg\" alt=\"Maniava waterfall\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/martinblack.com\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/unnamed-file.jpg 600w, https:\/\/martinblack.com\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/unnamed-file-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5610\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Maniava waterfall (photo by Seleonov)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Also listed are prehistoric settlements and a mysterious deep &#8216;black lake&#8217;.<\/p>\n<h2>Football<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-5611 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/martinblack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/fc-kaparty.jpg\" alt=\"FC Karpaty Lviv\" width=\"105\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After much huffing and puffing I decided to adopt\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fckarpaty.lviv.ua\/en\/\">FC Karpaty Lviv<\/a> as my Ukrainian football team. \u00a0From what I can see they are a mid-table kinda club, which is fine with me, I&#8217;ll like the badge and please green and white striped shirts.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn&#8217;t an easy choice, Lviv is also home to\u00a0FC Shakhtar Donetsk, one of the two\u00a0biggest clubs in Ukraine (Dynamo Kyiv\u00a0being the other).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to write a longer post about my choice\u00a0in the next week or so.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly we won&#8217;t be in Lviv for a game but we&#8217;ll get to see\u00a0KS Cracovia play a match in Krak\u00f3w, so that&#8217;s okay.<\/p>\n<h2>Music<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5616\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5616\" style=\"width: 205px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-5616\" src=\"http:\/\/martinblack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/one-in-canoe.jpg\" alt=\"one in canoe\" width=\"205\" height=\"235\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5616\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u041e\u0434\u0438\u043d \u0432 \u043a\u0430\u043d\u043e\u0435 looking intense<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I finally discovered a Ukrainian band that I like!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/odynvkanoe.com\/\">\u041e\u0434\u0438\u043d \u0432 \u043a\u0430\u043d\u043e\u0435<\/a> (One in Canoe) are a three piece from Lviv (fancy that!).<\/p>\n<p>They have a wistful, alt-folk, romantic sound that I quite enjoy.
