Romans! &#8211; a hike in the Cambridgeshire hills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cambridgeshire may well be one of the flattest counties in the UK but it does contain some hills, small hill but hills nevertheless.<\/p>\n<p>Not far from Cambridge we have the Gog Magog hills, see the contours below, pretty impressive eh?<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2031\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2031\" style=\"width: 565px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/martinblack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/contours.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2031\" alt=\"Contours around Gog Magog\" src=\"http:\/\/martinblack.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/contours.gif\" width=\"565\" height=\"273\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2031\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The hills! The hills!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>So one sunny morning, the first true Autumn morning of the year, I set out for the town of Great Shelford, just to the south of Cambridge.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 384px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Autumn leaves in Great Shelford\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/-ZnyZ2EZKKlA\/UixTmRkhrFI\/AAAAAAAABXU\/TbeYcppoNeg\/s512\/DSCN0170.JPG\" width=\"384\" height=\"512\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Autumn leaves in Great Shelford<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Pleasant paths and quiet roads led me through the village and finally towards the hills themselves.<\/p>\n<p>On the way I passed a lonely copse and was tempted to commit TRESPASS to investigate, but the wide open fields left me feeling a little exposed so I chickened out.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 576px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" \" alt=\"The lonely copse\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/-EZbjPqHE1KA\/UixTmhC-2kI\/AAAAAAAABXQ\/wnSoHfUghwE\/s640\/DSCN0172.JPG\" width=\"576\" height=\"432\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">The lonely copse<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I ascended\u00a0Gog Magog and enjoyed the views from the summit.\u00a0Writer Iman\u00a0Jacob Wilkens claims that &#8216;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.troy-in-england.com\/\">Troy\u00a0was situated on the Gog Magog Hills near Cambridge<\/a>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>Troy!
