A question that has been turning up in my mind regarding the Hit The North<\/a>\u00a0expedition is: Where exactly is ‘The North’ and how will I know it when I arrive there?<\/p>\n

As a southerner my response to this question has always been somewhat fuzzy and I’ve usually settled on the city of Nottingham<\/a> as representing some kind of North\/South border town.<\/p>\n

Seeing as I’m presently not that far from Nottingham in my expedition to The North, I decided to ask the collective hive mind of Twitter and let them sort out the question once and for all.<\/p>\n

So here was my\u00a0original\u00a0tweet:<\/p>\n

Responses rolled in\u00a0immediately\u00a0and a consensus was quickly reached that Nottingham is<\/strong> a Midlands city.<\/p>\n

Here are some of those responses.<\/p>\n

…which affirmed my\u00a0suspicion\u00a0of Nottingham as a frontier town.<\/p>\n

And not only a frontier town but the ‘Queen of the East Midlands’ no less:<\/p>\n

Though this was quickly countered by nearby Derby:<\/p>\n

The question then moved to ‘If not Nottingham, then where…?:<\/p>\n

Chesterfield is looking likely…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Two votes for Chesterfield, should that be my target town?<\/p>\n

We then started discussing rivers.<\/span><\/p>\n

First, the Trent:<\/p>\n

Followed by the Humber:<\/p>\n

Mr @Pezholio was kind enough to demonstrate his point with a map, just the sort of thing I needed:<\/p>\n

So there we go. \u00a0The hive mind has spoken and said its piece. \u00a0I’m\u00a0settling\u00a0on a Trent\/Humber border with Chesterfield as my target town for the ‘Hit The North’ expedition.<\/p>\n
