I saw Hurray for the Riff Raff<\/a> On Wednesday night (25th May) at the Old Queen’s Head<\/a> in Islington.<\/p>\n

The band’s singer\/song writer,\u00a0Alynda Lee Segarra sang beautifully, reminding me slightly of Catherine Irwin from Freakwater and Jolie Holland.<\/p>\n

She was backed by a\u00a0fine fiddle player,\u00a0Yosi Perlstein. Aylanda herself played guitar and later a banjo.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the set for me was the song ‘Too Much of a Good Thing’ and the poignant ‘Sali’s Song’, written about her friend Sali Grace<\/a> who was brutally murdered in 2008.<\/p>\n
