Formed in 1980, they released two albums and four singles before splitting up in 1984.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly the band did not make a great impact on the music scene and are today remembered by only a few diehard fans.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve always loved The Decorators, from the night I first I heard them on the John Peel show in 1980, to the present day, over 30 years later.<\/p>\n<p>Lyrically a romantic,\u00a0 melancholy and at times self-referential band, they were strongly influenced by the Velvet Underground and The Only Ones. They sang of love and death, betrayal, rebellion, cat people and red skies over Wembley.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Check out the new Decorators site I&#8217;m working on!
