I walked this, the fourth stage of my Grand Norfolk Hike, on Saturday 14th January 2012.
So…this stage was a little odd in that I didn’t actually get to be near the sea. I saw it, sure, but I didn’t get that close to it. Never mind, it was still a great hike. For part of the journey I was joined by my old pal Seamus and his boy Louis.
I met them in Brancaster where I had been having a cup of tea in the porch of the fine old village church.
We walked on down to the harbour and on out over the marshes.
Seamus and Louis had to leave me after a couple of hours of very enjoyable walking and chatter. It was great to have other people with me on the hike and I really hope that other friends and family will join in on the fun (it is fun!).
I carried on over the marshes, listening to and watching huge groups of geese flying in formation and making one hell of a racket.
Finally I reached Burnham Overy Staithe but sadly did not have enough money on me for a pint at The Hero (named after Nelson, a local boy) pub by the bus stop. The bus arrived and I fell promptly asleep, waking in King’s Lynn.
Can’t believe you didn’t have enough money for a pint! Would be good to join you at some point x
Yes, I was out by 30p, must frustrating. Would love to have you along for part of the walk : )
